Workforce Training courses have been developed by HCCF in partnership with NHS Highland and Highland Council Social Work, to help professionals from health and social care backgrounds understand the issues experienced by unpaid carers and how minor changes to working practice can ensure carers are recognised and valued, informed and involved and supported and healthy.

Professionals will explore the different types of unpaid caring roles and will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to improve their partnership working with carers.  The training programme began with carer awareness sessions in May 2010 and continued throughout Highland until October.  The next phase of training will look at how to use Carers Support Plans to help carers assess the balance between their caring role and having a life of their own.

Please check our events diary for training session dates or if there are no dates in the diary, please contact Connecting Carers to find out more about the training programme on 01463 723561.

As a follow-up to the carer awareness training, we have produced a useful tool to help staff signpost unpaid carers to us for support.  Please click on the links below to see an example and read about the key flyer, or contact us to receive a supply of keys for you or your staff.
