Caring & Sharing Charity Shop

Congratulations to the Caring and Sharing Shop on their 2 year Anniversary!

" On the 19th of March, we are 2 years old. We opened on the 19th of March 2010. In the past 2 years that  Caring & Sharing Charity Shop has been trading in support of HCCF we have made a significant amount of money for the charity and raised the profile of HCCF greatly in Inverness.

We have the reputation for being the "Posh" charity shop in the city, such is the quality of the donations that we receive in our shop, or that we collect locally from homes or business's for free. We are happy to accept donations of all qualities and quanties as whatever we cant sell in our shop, whether it be shabby clothes, old shoes, broken crockery, well read books or well used linen, we can still make money for the charity through recycling it on, still making money to allow HCCF to help to provide a better quality of life for carers in our community.

Last November (2011) we were pleasantly surprised and delighted to win the

"Best Business of the Year Award" on behalf of the Highland News Group as voted for by their readers in Highland Region.

We were presented with £1000.00 of free advertising, which was really important to us as a charity, and a certificate which we proudly display in our window.

Our success does not just happen but is carefully planned on  a weekly basis with back up plans to support all eventuallities. Part of our ethos for raising money is to use events as part of our success. This helps to keep our local customers interest in our ever changing shop.  After Christmas we held a very successful fabric event thanks to a huge amount of different materials donated by Cath Thompson of our Dingwall Carers Support Group and the squirreling away all year of other donations of fabric. Whats been happening?

As the Inverness Caring & Sharing shop has been so successful we had been looking for another premises to open our second shop and in January we secured a property at 96 High Street, Invergordon which opened on the 19th of February 2012. The shop was opened by HCCF Chair Maureen MacMillan and Vice Chair Caroline Thomson. We have had a very successful 3 weeks trading in Invergordon with lots of interest from customers and hugely encouraged by the amount and high quality of the donations that we have received so far from the local community in Ross-shire. We are also really pleased with the positive feedback that we are getting for both Inverness and Invergordon shops.

We will always require good quality donations to enable us to grow our shops and we will always need volunteers to help us to staff our shops. Without our dedicated and committed teams of volunteers we could not do what we do for HCCF and to whom we are extremely grateful. We do realise that we have to be flexible with volunteers and offer hours to suit you.

For more information on collection of donations of goods to sell in our shops or volunteering please cotnact;
